The Spin Turn with Lynette.

In some respects it’s been a good thing my inherent laziness and nature striking me down with a variety of challenges to my immune system have collaborated to bring you this note about Lynette’s workshop so late. It’s allowed me to have some feedback from some of the attendees. Thankfully, the feedback has been positive.

During the workshop itself, I was able to see and perceive changes and shifting awareness in action.

There are many things about my personality and character which irritate and annoy me, chief among which my inability to know when others around me aren’t interested – I keep moaning and whining on, regardless of escalating boredom levels of those within earshot. However, in the case of relentlessly regurgitating Lynette’s words, wisdom and knowledge, I am pleased to say I see a small benefit. Having been subjected to Lynette through me, when faced with her in the flesh and hearing it, seeing it and feeling it coming from her, I was aware I was literally observing change in action.

Uncle Albert said of the universe, it’s simplicity is masked by it’s complexity. Moving your body weight with another body is exactly the same. This is where I see Lynette’s skill! Through a process of taking her teacher’s knowledge, running it through her mind, body, pupils, son and grandson she has seen the simplicity of shifting weight using minimal effort. It is this which I’ve be attempting to learn from her over the last eight years and pass on to all of you. I know I was witnessing an expansion of understanding in many people in her last workshop. I know this because I saw people changing in front of me at the time (dressing rooms were available in the George Hotel) ? and in lessons with people since 3rd November. So, I think we should all join together and give ourselves a massive virtual hug of congratulations and encouragement!

Following a tragic happening to Lynette’s purse in a ladies outfitters shop in Cary, she has said she’ll never be able to return to the Market House. Don’t worry too much, I’m sure if enough of us would like to see her again to do more of the same dealing with chasse movements and Locksteps in Quickstep, I can twist her arm, provided, that is, a selection of burly Ballroom bopping boys would volunteer to chase her out of town before she has the opportunity to ask for directions to Retail Therapy.

Sincerely, I really hope many of you would love to repeat her workshop in the spring of 2019 using a different dance as a basis for improving and elevating your dancing pleasure and joy.

Warmest wishes to you all.
